One of my favorite training activities in Spin Class. I prefer the intense nature of the class over getting on my trainer in the basement. Recently, I purchased a group on for Real Ryder Revolution Chicago , a type of biking class that offers a total body workout. This weekend I attended a class, and WOW! What a workout! The Real Ryder bikes are set up similar to a regular spin class, with one important change: the bikes are not anchored, but instead are slightly suspended so that your body weight can tip and turn the bike. To keep the bike steady, I had to engage my lower abs, and focus on gently using my arms.
A Real Ryder bike
The 45 minute class was one of the most intense workouts I've ever had. My arms, core, legs, and mind were all exhausted at the end. Yes, I said mind. I was mentally exhausted, as I had to focus on my body the entire workout. There was no zoning out and just spinning the legs at a high cadence. Every time I zoned out my core would relax, and the bike would wobble. Overall, I LOVED this workout! The staff was incredibly nice, and accommodating. I can't wait to come back and experience this again. I think the overall conditioning will help make me a stronger biker this summer.
